Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. — Hebrews  10:23 (NLT)

The apostle Paul compared a person living a godly life to that of an athlete running a race. Like the athlete who must train hard to have physical stamina to finish the race that he is running, the man who wishes to live a life pleasing to God must train hard to have spiritual stamina. He must have perseverance.

  • Accept the fact that living a life for God requires perseverance.
  • Allow God to strengthen you when you are weary and want to give up.
  • View life as a marathon, not as a sprint.
  • Believe that God  will help you to persevere.
  • Exhibit patience and commitment in your life.
  • Remember that God’s schedule for your spiritual growth is often different than your own.
  • Trust that God will bring others into your life to give you support and encouragement.
